Review of It's A Shame About Ray - Collector's Edition

From The Sun - 27th March 2008

It's almost a shame about the extra items on this expanded edition of the 1992 classic. How do you top perfection?

The original version of the second Lemonheads album breezed in at under 30 minutes, with 13 tracks of melodic indie rock precision.

What made it so special was Evan Dando’s concise lyrics that could plunge dark depths or peer into sunlit uplands in the blink of an eye. And there’s the brilliant power pop romp through Simon and Garfunkel’s Mrs Robinson.

Fortunately, the compilers added two fascinating components, some intimate Dando demos and a new-to-DVD collection of videos and live performances. The legend of Ray is intact.
