Review of The Lemonheads

"Its no longer familiar to me, it's become routine," sings Evan Dando on 'No Backbone' in characteristically ironic fashion. This latest incarnation of the band he formed 20 very odd years ago is perhaps the zippiest ever.
Anchoring the sound with the former Descendents' rhythm section of Bill Stevenson and Karl Alvarez gives the album genuine drive, with icing on the cake provided by such diverse talents as Dinosaur Jnr's J Mascis and former Band stalwart Garth Hudson.
Dando has made some interesting and more delicate records under his own name, but this storming return to rock could give the musical mid-life crisis a good name.
